Steven Soderbergh is well known for directing some amazing movies such as the Ocean’s trilogy, Traffic, Contagion, and Magic Mike and is also known for experimenting with his movies, such as Bubble (2005). Ocean’s Eleven and Ocean’s Thirteen are one of my all time favorite heist comedy movies and Soderbergh did a remarkable job with them.
Justin Kroll, reporting an exclusive for Variety, says that Steven’s next film starring Juno Temple and Claire Foy is shot entirely on the Apple iPhone.
Plot details are being kept under wraps, but insiders say Soderbergh shot the entire film on an iPhone, similar to the indie hit “Tangerine.” The movie is also without a distributor, though the auteur may decide to self-distribute through his production banner Fingerprint Releasing.
It’ll be interesting to see when the film comes out. The iPhone gives cinematographers and directors the agility to move around much more flexibly and I for one am incredibly excited.
